  • Baccalaureate Mass

    Saturday, June 1 | 6:00 PM

Families and their guests must arrive on campus no later than 5:30 p.m. for the Baccalaureate Mass, which begins at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1. Important Graduation Information

Graduation Seating

Graduation seat reservations will be made available through a Google Form on Saturday, May 11. Each reservation includes (6) reserved seats on the North Lawn near the stage for your family and guests. Seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis via the Google Form. Families with more than six guests can utilize a non-reserved seating area on the lawn's second half, which will open at 5:00 p.m.

Please note that there is limited shade on the North Lawn. Sunscreen, hats, and protective sun wear are recommended. Please be aware of weather conditions and plan accordingly.

Arrival, Check-In & Parking

All graduates will meet at Pike Auditorium no later than 4:30 p.m. in preparation for the class photo. Seating for guests opens up at 5:00 p.m.

Parking will be available on campus in the Senior and Junior Parking Lots. Street parking is also available. When parking on neighborhood streets, please do not block our neighbors’ driveways and please respect landscaping and yards when walking to campus. Please remember that once the graduation ceremony begins, driving on campus will not be permitted.

If your family requires handicap parking or has other accessibility needs, please email Abigail Shaw no later than Monday, May 20.

Ceremony Protocol

Out of respect for all graduates, we ask that families and friends do not bring balloons, bells, foghorns, or any other noisemakers to the ceremony. Confetti and aerial confetti cannons are also prohibited. The use of these items diminishes the acknowledgement for the student who follows. Please help us to be sensitive towards each graduate and their family.

Commencement Speaker

Sylvana Hidalgo, a 2005 graduate of Mayfield Senior School, will serve as the commencement speaker. She earned her bachelor's degree from Yale University in 2009, majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, along with Spanish. Recognized in LATINA Style magazine for her dedication to medicine, Sylvana pursued medical studies at Wake Forest, graduating in 2014, then specialized in Pediatrics at Columbia University and cardiology at UCLA. Before medical school, she explored healthcare delivery in Latin America, assisting in open-heart surgeries with Hearts with Hope in Peru and working at the Military Hospital in Mexico City. Now, Sylvana is a Pediatric Cardiologist in Los Angeles, embodying her alma mater's values of service. She resides in Pasadena with her husband Dave and their children.

Graduation Shoes Reminder

Graduates are reminded that shoes must be plain white with low-to-medium heels, or flats and ballet slippers. All shoes should have a back (no mules or slides) to hold them in place. It's important for students to be comfortable walking on the lawn, up and down the stage, and the front steps of Pike. We do not recommend stiletto heels because they can get caught in the carpet runway. Students MAY NOT wear flip-flops or tennis shoes.

Graduation Photography & Videography

Formal Individual Photographs

A professional photographer will take portraits of 2024 graduates and their families in front of Strub Hall on Sunday, June 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each graduate will have approximately 5 minutes for individual and family poses. Families will receive the photos as free hi-res image downloads.

Families MUST reserve a time slot via the SignUp Genius link and should arrive on campus 100% camera-ready, 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time. Each graduate will wear her gown and Holy Child medallion, and will be given gloves and a rose bouquet for her photo shoot upon arrival.

Class Photograph and Graduation ceremony photos

Another professional photographer will take the official Class of 2024 group photograph on the day of graduation. He will also take photos during the ceremony, capturing every student. All graduates must be in Pike Auditorium by 4:30 p.m. for their official Class of 2024 group photograph at 5:00 p.m. on graduation day. High res digital prints of the class photo and graduation ceremony will be made available to families free of charge to download.

Graduation Video

We want you and your family to enjoy the graduation ceremony without worrying that you will miss the important moments. Mayfield Senior School has made arrangements to record the graduation ceremony, procession and diploma distribution. As our gift to your family, we will release a link of the video for you to download for personal use.

We kindly ask that you refrain from setting up your own video equipment during the ceremony, remain seated and avoid taking photos or videos during the formal proceedings.

External Photographers/Videographers

During the ceremony, we ensure all students are photographed by Mayfield. However, we understand some families may wish to have their own photographer. Please note, however, they will have limited access, especially during formal recordings. Guests and other photographers will be asked to remain seated to avoid disrupting our official photographer and videographer.
